Daeracheon

Our Story

Named after the highest heaven, said to be reached only by immortals, we keep watch over the long years it takes a single tree to become fragrance.

THE NAME

Daeracheon (大羅天),
the highest heaven

Taoism divides the heavens into 36 levels. The highest of them is Daeracheon (大羅天). It lies above Hyeondo Okgyeong (玄都玉京), the Jade Capital, and is said to be where the supreme deity, Wonsi Cheonjon (元始天尊), the Primeval Lord of Heaven, dwells and governs all 36 heavens.

It is said that however devoted their practice, humans can ascend only as far as the Three Pure Realms, Samcheonggyeong (三淸境), just below. Daeracheon can be reached by immortals alone.

In the name Daeracheon Agarwood lies a wish: to evoke that lofty heaven through the noble, solemn fragrance of agarwood.

25 YEARS

Five people, 25 years

Daeracheon Agarwood was founded by two medical specialists and three agarwood cultivation experts. Over 25 years, they have researched the culture solution that lets resin form in agarwood trees and refined methods for growing the trees organically.

The farm grows a single species, Aquilaria agallocha Roxb. Every tree carries a serial number and is recorded from the day it is planted to the day it is harvested, and the wood is distilled at our own factory in Dong Nai. Doing everything in one place, from planting the trees to making the products, is the true value of nature that Daeracheon sets out to protect.

PHILOSOPHY

Su-seung hwa-gang (水升火降)

Su-seung hwa-gang comes from the theory of yin-yang and the five elements and means "water rises, fire descends." Water turns to vapor and rises to the sky, while the warmth of the sun seeps down into the earth. The idea is that nature finds its balance when above and below trade places and circulate.

Agarwood has long been called "the fragrance that sinks." Daeracheon takes this idea of balance, settling what is restless so that above and below flow evenly, as the philosophy of its brand.
